few days after the Palin scandal broke, someone at New York magazine's blog referred to Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin's babby daddy, as "sex on skates." In fact, if you do a Google search for the term "sex on skates" -- which originated in the Will Ferrell comedy "Blades of Glory" but which we all know dates back to (of course!) Brian Boitano -- the first thing you will find is this story about Levi Johnston, along with other stories about the hockey player/self-proclaimed "fuckin redneck."

It's hard to call just one aspect of the Palin story the most interesting -- because it's like looking at a pile of needles, and saying which is your favorite -- but for me, the story of Levi Johnston is deeply fascinating. What is this kid thinking? What brought him here? How did he wind up as headline news -- this hockey player/self-proclaimed "fuckin redneck" from Wasilla, Alaska?
