Today Is the First Day of School

L
ots of things have happened in the last few weeks. I went to Dallas. I went to Austin, and moderated a Texas Book Festival panel with the head writers of The Onion, who are adorable and hilarious and which will eventually be featured on CSPAN’s Book TV. I went to New Orleans. It was amazing. And now--AND NOW--I am starting a new job. I’m the new deputy editor of the Life section at Salon. I mention this because some of my friends read this site, and they should know. Well, let me rephrase that. If you read this site, you are my friend, and you should know. I’m excited! Last night, I picked out my clothes and laid them on the bed, smoothing them out with my hands to see how they looked, and this morning I woke up kind of nervous and happy, a half hour before my alarm. If there were two of me, I would blather on more about the incredible things going on, for approximately 17 minutes without stopping, but there is only one of me. And she needs to dry her hair right about now. Bus leaves at 9am.
