Board Games: An Introduction

M
y friend Aaron wrote me recently about the board game Scrabble. I've been thinking about board games too and so I thought his email would make a nice introduction:
"May I say, may I say that Scrabble is the best game ever. I'm standing on that.
Trivial Pursuit is good, but as we may have discussed, playing Trivial Pursuit requires that you append every question with the phrase "in 1985," as in, "Which country was the biggest importer of grain [in 1985]?" So that lowers its goodness as a game. There may be a new version out there, somewhere, but my mind is made up, I ain't looking for it. Also, I like Risk, but no one else I know likes it, so I'm sticking with scrabble. Oops, Scrabble."

More about board games tomorrow.
