A PLAYLETfor Kim, who left
September 06, 2001
for Kim, who left for Costa Rica yesterday
SETTING
Somewhere in South America, between here and there
CHARACTERS
Kim -- a beautiful, blonde Dutch woman. Looks 23, is actually 30. All lines must be spoken in cute Dutch accent, as in "hundert towsunt" instead of "hundred thousand" and "someting" instead of "something."
Sarah -- a beautiful, blonde ... just kidding. Umm, it's me, okay? You know what I look like, so imagine that (only taller).
PRELUDE: The First Hotel
KIM: This place is awful. There's no hot water.
SARAH: It's freezing.
KIM: I'll bet there are fleas in this bed.
SARAH: This window doesn't even close.
(Enter hotel manager)
HM: Do you want the room?
SARAH: Sure.
KIM: No. But we're lazy, so it's fine.
CONFLICT: Distracted by the Street Vendors
(A crowded street, many clothes for sale.)
SARAH: Christ, look at this baby sweater.
KIM: Oh my God, that is so cute.
SARAH: It's so cute, I can hardly stand it.
KIM: It's so cute, I want to buy it for my friend´s baby.
SARAH: It's so cute, I want to find a baby and give that baby this sweater.
KIM: It's so cute, I want to have a baby just to give him this sweater.
SARAH: I'm hungry. You?
KIM: You read my mind.
CLIMAX: The Travel Agent Strikes
SARAH: So wait a minute. Where are we going tomorrow?
KIM: Some place.
SARAH: And what's there?
KIM: A bunch of crap.
SARAH: And why are we going?
KIM: Because we're stupid tourists.
DENOUEMENT: Nightly Ritual
SARAH: What are you doing?
KIM: Smelling my shoes.
SARAH: Oh. Okay.
KIM: What are you doing?
SARAH: Farting.
KIM: Oh. Okay.
SARAH: Good night, chica.
KIM: Good night, chica.
THE END
Now I travel alone.
