Oh Baby, Baby

I
t is my proud, teary-eyed pleasure to congratulate my friends Ramee and Mike on the birth of their twins, Nicholas William and Nora Katherine. Ramee and Mike were our first friends from college to get married, and appropriately, they blaze the path for the rest of us drunken post-adolescents as they start their own family.
Last night, I spoke briefly to Mike. His voice was electric, bursting. I was almost nervous speaking with him – one of us! a father! – so that when I told him I couldn’t wait to see the twins, I added, “you know, in their natural habitat.” I’d like to think I was joking.
At any rate, those kids are lucky.
