A Walk in Hyde Park
March 26, 2003
T
oday is one of those perfect days in Austin. You just want to fall in love with everything. Look at the adorable house with the Christmas lights and the porch swing. Look at that squirrel with an apple core in its mouth. Look at the dead possum lying the gutter - delightful! Suddenly the neighborhood seems overgrown with wisteria, running along fences, wrapped up along trees. A most romantic flower the wisteria, purple and droopy like grapes. It even looked lovely drooping over the gas meter in the backyard of the house where I grew up. I love you wisteria! I love you squirrel! And to you, dead possum, a fond adieu.
